Turn off power to the circuit breaker panel, turn off the main switch. Remove the cover to access the switches and wires. Use an electric tester to confirm that the power is off. Press a projection of the tester on the back of each circuit breaker and other pins to any metal on the panel box. If power is disconnected, your tester does not light up.
